Death's Sting

As Easter approaches I am posting a link to my article from the Easter issue of Focus on the Family magazine in 2009, Death's Sting. This story of an unthinkable Easter event tells how the resurrection became more than just a Bible story to our family.

Join Spiritual Sunday for more weekend refreshment.

  3. Thank you for sharing this story again. That must be hard to go through that kind of pain. But I'm glad that despite that searing tear in your hearts, the Lord's promise of eternal life, hope, comfort healed that. Isn't it true that when our hearts are broken, that's when the redemptive power of the cross works best? This is a very timely reminder of what believing in Christ truly means! In what resurrection means for those who believes in Him. God bless you sister.

  5. A great story of inspiration. Without faith in the resurrection, our faith is in vain.

  8. I liked what your husband said, if we don't go to church then satan wins. It's trails like this that satan waits for.

  10. Rhodema,

Thank you for writing this. It was a great comfort to me. When my Caleb died, our Hopsice chaplain said, "It's always Resurrection Morning in Heaven." You write beautifully. Bless you.

  12. Blessings Rhodema... Thank you so much for sharing this grief to understand the Resurrection better!Death does have such a sting!

It is timely for me, though I have dealt with loss of many family members, but just recently a dear friend of 13 years. I love how the scriptures became alive. What a beautiful encouragement in healing! I pray that the recollection being near Easter reminds you now more of the triumph and healing than that heaviness and may the Comforter surround you and your daughters. Written so beautifully. Thanks.

  13. Thank you for sharing. That was a beautiful story to share. We are all vulnerable to death's sting but never to it's victory. We can live in CHRIST forever and that my friend, keeps me going and going and going. Blessings!

  14. This story touched my heart in a way that none has in a long time. It brought back memories of my 47 years as a minister. Many times I walked a similar trail of tears. Your story is a powerful testimony for faith. Thank you for sharing from your heart. I'm glad you reprinted this for us. A story like this should not be lost in one printing.
